The Non-Contact Hockey League (NCHL) is governed by the rules and regulations that are outlined in the. Hockey Canada Rulebook unless noted otherwise below.
If a player clears waivers, his NHL team is not obligated to send him down to the AHL immediately. Once 30 days have gone by, or the player has played 10 NHL games, the clearance expires, and he may not be sent down to the AHL without clearing waivers again.
During a waiver process, pending transactions are processed in an order determined by each teams waiver rank. The team with the highest waiver rank will get its first requested player.
Waivers are a tool through which a team can send a player to the minors. A player who has to go through waivers is offered up to all other teams before he can be placed in the minors. If claimed by a team, that team must assume the players existing contract and it is taken off the players former teams books.
When a player is waived, it means that their contract is not yet terminated, but rather that they are on a waiver wire that makes them available to be claimed by other teams. If another team claims the player, then he joins that team with the same conditions of his current contract.

People also ask

Salaries of players playing for an NHL team count against its salary cap, while the salaries of players playing for a teams minor league affiliates do not. NHL teams have waived players with high salaries, thereby freeing up salary cap space for other signings.
