These visitors share several common characteristics. They come to Columbia for a short duration that generally does not exceed three months and they do not have a formal affiliation with the University. They do not actively contribute to the Universitys programs, and do not provide it with services.
Guest Access Columbia students, faculty, and staff can register up to two same-day guests using the guest registration portal. Guest requests of more than two people must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. the evening prior to the date of access. Requests can include multi-guest registrations and multiple days.
Short-term visitors cannot remain at the University for longer than three months unless their activities going forward allow them to either be appointed as an officer of research or designated as a visiting scholar/visiting scientist.
The Visitors Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On weekends, groups are free to tour the Morningside campus on their own using the self-guided tour; however, a current Columbia ID is required to enter all buildings except St. Pauls Chapel .
Columbia has an open campus and you are welcome to explore the outdoor areas at your leisure.
