The Grade Forgiveness Application allows FGCU students to repeat a course and exclude the original grade from their GPA calculations, provided certain conditions are met. Eligible students must have received a grade of C- or lower, the repeated grade must be higher, and the application must be submitted by the specified deadline. Only two course grades can be forgiven, and all grades will remain on the transcript with annotations indicating which grades were excluded from GPA calculations.

Additional conditions of the policy: Grade forgiveness will be processed automatically by Records Registration each semester. Priority will be given to courses with higher number of credits at the time of processing. A grand total of three course grades may be forgiven for courses that are repeated.

When you earn a better grade the second or third time, you may be eligible for Grade Forgiveness, which allows you to replace the previous grade with the new one. This means that the old grade will be taken out of your GPA, however all attempts will still appear on your transcript.

What is the FGCU 3 2 withdrawal rule?

FGCU Withdrawal rule Students are allowed to withdraw from a maximum of three (3) lower-level courses (numbered 1000-2999) and two (2) upper-level courses (numbered 3000-4999) without academic penalty after the drop/add dates. Any Ws that students acquired prior to Fall 2017 will not count toward this limit.

If a grade forgiveness request is approved, the original course still will appear on the students official transcript, but will not earn credit or count towards the students term or cumulative GPA.
