Visiting Graduate Researchers (VGRs) are domestic or international degree-seeking graduate students at their home institution who are invited to conduct short-term doctoral research or participate in a mentored or independent research project or masters research collaborations with a faculty member at UCLA.
Your PhD studies are financially supported by the MCIP program and UCLA. The salary (stipend) for the 2020-2021 academic year is $34,000. Including tuition and benefits, the total support package is ~$51,487.
VGRs will have access to UCLA libraries and other campus services. The APC will provide up to $9000 in funding for each VGR. Funding includes a $3000 living stipend, expenses for visa costs and campus fees, mandatory health insurance, up to 8 units of course enrollment fees, and travel costs up to the maximum.
A Visiting Scholar must possess a terminal degree or foreign equivalent. A Visitor (graduate or undergraduate student) must be enrolled in a degree-granting program or equivalent at a non-University of California institution of higher education.
