SENIORS Senior athletes are not eligible for Junior Varsity competition and shall not play on any JV team in any sport.
JV stands for Junior Varsity. Its typically made up of freshmen and sophomores (15-16 year olds). Varsity is the senior team made up primarily of juniors and seniors (17-18 year olds). If a player is particularly skilled, they may play varsity sooner than is typical.
A student entering the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade must maintain a 2.0 or above cumulative (GPA) in all courses taken. Students are either eligible or ineligible for an 18-week period based on their cumulative (GPA) per FHSAA rules.
Rozelle noted that the eligibility rule of age 19 has never been overturned in Florida. The FHSAA ruling was consistent with the age stan dard (19 before September 1) recommended for athletes by the National. Federation of State High School Associations (NFSHSA).
The early registration fee for the first sport (football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, soccer, softball and track field is $60.
