There are several ways to find out about current fire restrictions in the area you plan to visit. Check the land management websites (fs.fed.us, nps.gov and blm.gov) and enter the forest/area you are interested in.
For most forests, a Stage 1 fire restriction prohibits all camp fires, except those in approved fire rings in developed recreation sites.
Multiple Ranger Districts on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland are under fire restrictions. Boulder, Canyon Lakes, Clear Creek and Sulphur Ranger Districts are currently under Stage 1 fire restrictions.
Campfires are only permitted in USDA Forest Service approved and installed fire pits/grates, or gas-fueled devices with an on/off switch. All other campfires or fires, including charcoal barbecues, fireworks, and more, are prohibited. Click here to view the full list of Stage 1 restrictions.
