There are three types of emissions waivers: a repair waiver, a diagnostic waiver, and an economic hardship waiver. Can I be charged a late fee? Yes, a $20 late fee is charged if you are more than 30 consecutive calendar days late for your vehicles scheduled test date or more than 60 calendar days late for its free retest date.
Full-Service Test Centers can perform emissions testing on all eligible vehicles regardless of fuel type or model year. OBD Plus Test Centers can perform all emissions testing except on those diesel-powered vehicles from model year 1996 or older.
Your vehicle is eligible for one free retest per test cycle at any test center. If your vehicle fails the free retest, you will pay the normal $20.00 emissions test fee for each subsequent test. Remember, after the initial failure, you will have 60 calendar days to have the vehicle repaired and retested.
