Parents are required to attend all den and pack meetings with their son. The boys have their parent(s) sitting beside them, ready to help at a moments notice if their boy needs help with whatever the project is for the week. My son is in a Bear den, but this happens in all dens regardless of age.
Cub Scouting is for youth in kindergarten through fifth grade. Youth can join Scouts BSA if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st; OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not docHubed age 18.
Cub Scout den meetings are intended to be an activity for the individual boys and girls. They are not a family activity, and the presence of parents can be a distraction. However, parental involvement is not forbidden and all meetings should be open to your participation.
Parents are most involved at the Tiger level. The boy and his parent or guardian join the den together and attend all meetings and activities together. The den is made up of three to eight of these parent-son teams. Each den also has a Tiger den leader (usually one of the parents) who helps coordinate the meetings.
