You must apply directly to the Psychology Board of Australia for provisional or general registration to practise as a psychologist in Australia.
Having acquired your advanced diploma, youll be eligible to apply for provisional registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. To become a clinical psychologist, youll then need to complete your studies by undertaking a Master of Psychology Clinical, which once again must be APAC-approved.
To practice as a psychologist you must hold current registration. Psychologists are nationally registered through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) via the Psychology Board of Australia.
Psychologists with general registration can work in any number of settings and assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of clients and areas of concern. They use evidence-based psychological approaches customised to suit each individual, setting, issue or challenge.
