FlexPay is a new payment option for residential electric and gas (northern Nevada) customers that provides more financial freedom -- customers decide how much and when to pay for energy service. Because this is a pay-as-you-go service, there are no credit checks, no deposits, no late fees and no reconnect fees*.
Net Metering in Nevada If a customers solar system produces more energy in a billing period than used, the excess energy will be pushed back onto the grid and used by other electricity customers. Customers earn credits for the excess energy. The credits are recorded on customers electric bills.
Go to nvenergy.com and click on MyAccount, scroll down the menu and select Register a New Account. Enter your address, NV Energy account number or the last four digits of your social security number to connect to your account.
You will need a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to sell your power to the grid. Using your current import electricity supplier for this type of contract rarely gets you the best price for the electricity you have to sell; you are more likely to get higher payments by shopping around.
NV Energy said the higher prices stem from the rising cost of natural gas, which fuels its power plants, and are not to recover operational costs. Customers pay what we pay for fuel and (to) purchase power. There is no profit to NV Energy, the company said in a statement to the Review-Journal.

NV Energy customers are eligible for a modified net metering program that pays customers an excess energy credit for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity that they send back to the grid after monthly netting.
Installing an export meter and feeding the excess power back to your supplier would earn you between 6p9p per kWh sent back.
