Receiving your refund by mail The Department of Finance sends a check to the surety (or an assignee), at the address on the cash bail receipt, within two weeks of receiving the refund order from the court. In total it should take about eight weeks after the case has ended for you to receive your cash bail refund.

Do you get bail money back if charges are dropped?

Yes, if the charges are dropped and the case is dismissed, you should get any cash bond you posted returned.

How do I get my bail money back in New York?

You do not have to do anything to receive a cash bail refund. We usually receive the cash bail order from the court about six weeks after the case is closed. We then mail the cash bail refund to the surety at the address on the cash bail receipt within two weeks.

How to refund cash bond?

The accused or their legal representative must file a motion for the release of the cash bond, and the court will issue an order for the bonds return, subject to the courts findings regarding compliance with bail conditions.
