A Firearms Transaction Record, or ATF Form 4473, is a seven-page form prescribed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) required in the United States of America to be completed when a person proposes to purchase a firearm from a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder, such as a gun dealer.

Can I print my own 4473?

The Revised Form is available on ATFs website, and can be downloaded and printed for immediate use. Please note that the entire Form, including instructions, must be printed, and stored together. Hard copies of the Revised Form will be available through the ATF Distribution Center beginning February 1, 2023.

Can 4473 be filled out electronically?

You can fill out form 4473 online. The following items must be completed by the buyer: Personal Information (including residence address, place of birth, SSN); Questionnaire about mental and physical health, as well as past violations of the law.

Can I fill out my own 4473?

If a person purchases a firearm from a private individual who is not a FFL licensed dealer, the purchaser is not required in most states to complete a Form 4473. Some states (such as California, Colorado, Nevada, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington) require individual sellers to sell through dealers.
