Data from Feeding America found that an estimated 1,653,610 Ohioans were food insecure in 2022. As illustrated above, there is a large racial disparity in food access in Ohio. The 2024 Health Value Dashboard found that Ohio ranks in the bottom half of states and D.C. (34th) in food access and food insecurity.
In Fiscal Year 2024, the Food Bank distributed over 136 million pounds of food, the equivalent of nearly 113 million meals. 29% of food and grocery items distributed by the Food Bank in Fiscal Year 2024 was fresh produce. Including meat and proteins, over 65% of the food distributed was perishable (vs. shelf stable).
Ohio food banks. There are 248food banks and pantries in Ohio.
Any Ohio State student can utilize the food pantry to grab five (5) items and a hygiene kit. We offer many nonperishable items that require minimal preparation.
