What is emergency leave? Emergency leave is leave that is taken in response to a family or other emergency situation. Emergency leave is usually authorized very quickly. Emergency leave is paid leave that is chargeable against your leave balance.
SLA authorizes Service members to carry forward up to 90 days of leave at the end of a FY (60 days normal leave plus 30 days special leave), if the leave was earned before or during a qualifying deployment. Leave earned after return from deployment is not SLA protected.
Unit Deployment Program (UDP) UDP is a program designed to increase the training level and unit continuity of Marine Corps units stationed in the continental United States. In most cases, your Marine will go on a float to do different training exercises in different environments.
You may be authorized up to 30 days of emergency leave. You are authorized Government-funded transportation from the deployment location to the Home Station/PDS. Any additional travel to emergency leave destination is at your expense.
You continue to accrue leave while deployed, but you cannot use it. You also have a maximum amount of leave you can accrue before you stop getting more. You can save up 60 days of leave, but if you have more than that when the Fiscal Year rolls over (October 1st), you will be bumped back down to 60 days.
