What happens if my preliminary teaching credential expires?
If you are teaching when the credential expires, contact your employer about the possibility of acquiring an extension by appeal to cover your service until you can complete the requirements (See The Appeal Process). Partial or Postponed Pre-Ryan credentials are not renewable.
What is an emergency clad permit?
The purpose of the Emergency CLAD and BL Permits is to allow qualified individuals to be employed while completing requirements for the English Learner Authorization/CLAD Certificate or Bilingual Authorization and showing progress toward obtaining the certificate or authorization with each renewal.
Can you renew a certificate of clearance?

How long is a preliminary credential good for?
The Certificate of Clearance (COC) and Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) are not renewable. If your COC or ASCC has expired and your employer or program sponsor requires you to hold a valid COC or ASCC you must re-apply for a new one online. Emergency permits or Waivers may not be renewed.
What happens if preliminary credential expires?
Requirements for the EL Authorization/CLAD Certificate Passing scores on Tests 1, 2 and 3 of the California Teacher of English Learners (CTEL) Examination. Completion of course work in a Commission-approved CTEL program.
