In order to sell, buy or distribute alcohol in Georgia, you must have a variety of licenses. For example, Georgia requires three types of licenses/permits to sell alcohol: a local alcohol license, a state alcohol license and a Federal Basic Permit.
To sell alcohol legally in Georgia, you must have a local alcohol license, a Georgia alcohol license, and a Federal Basic permit. Once your local license application is approved, the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) will issue a state alcohol license without further investigation.

Pouring permits must be renewed annually. The application process includes filing an application with the associated fee, a 5-year background investigation, and issuance of a photo id card for qualified applicants. The permit must be in the employee's possession when working at the establishment.
If you pour for multiple establishments, you will need a Pouring Permit for each one. If you stop working at an establishment, and begin working at a new establishment, you will need to have your pouring permit updated. If you need a Pouring Permit for a special event, do not visit the Police Department.
Acceptable forms of payment are money order and cashier's check. The fee for the alcohol license for the full year is $5,000. If you apply for your license after July 1, your license fee is prorated to $2,500. Annual License Fees - see table below.
