Interpreting the Barthel Index and Modified Barthel Index: 0-20: total dependency. 21-60: severe dependency. 61-90: moderate dependency. 91-99: slight dependency. 100: independence.
The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) was developed as a research instrument to assess burnout as a continuum on three different dimensions: Emotional Exhaustion (or Exhaustion*), Depersonalization (or Cynicism*), and reduced Personal Accomplishment (or reduced Professional Efficacy*).
Scoring and Interpretation Scoring Method: Each item is scored on a 0-6 scale, with higher scores indicating greater severity of burnout. Interpretation: Higher total scores in emotional exhaustion and depersonalization indicate greater severity, while higher scores in personal accomplishment indicate lower severity.
Each item is scored based on whether or not the individual can perform a task or activity independently, with assistance or if they are fully dependent. The scoring is as follows: 0 = unable, 1 = needs assistance/help, 2 = independent. The for the ten items are summed and x 5 to get a total score out of 100.
The MBI developed by Shah et al. [5] is a 100-point rating scale of a patients ability to perform 10 kinds of ADL. Each activity is assigned a numeric value ing to the patients requirement for assistance. Lower scores indicate less independence, whereas higher scores indicate greater independence.
