How to Take Your Costume Measurements Height: Measure from the top of head to the floor. Chest: Measure around your chest under your arms at the broadest part. Waist: Measure around the smallest part of the waist. Hips: Measure around your hips at the widest point of your bum.
Choosing Your Size BUST:Measure around the back, under the arms and across the fullest part of the bust. WAIST: Measure around the waist, with the tape measure flat against the figure and snug but not too tight. HIPS: Measure over the fullest part of the hips, usually 21-23cm / 8-9 down from the waist.
You can measure your head circumference by placing a tape measure one finger-width above your eyebrows and wrapping it around your entire head. If you do not have a flexible measuring tape, wrap a piece of string (i.e. bendable but does not stretch) around your head and measure the length with a ruler.
Girth: Measure from the center of one shoulder, down the front through crotch and up back to starting point. This is the most important measurement in determining costume size.
