A score of 3 or more errors for plates 1 17 in either eye is a fail and the subject must proceed to the Farnsworth D-15 Standard test (D15 test).

Your eye doctor will ask you to look at an image made up of colored dots with a differently colored number or shape in the middle. If the shape blends into the background and you cant see it, you may have a type of color blindness.

What is D15 color vision test?

The D-15 test is a so called arrangement test. This type of color blindness tests are based on a set of colored plates or discs which have to be arranged in the correct order. Colorblind people will have difficulties to arrange the given colors and make mistakes.

How do they do the Farnsworth test?

The test subject is asked to identify the two colors (some of which are identical). Nine color pairs are administered during the test, beginning with a red/green combination, to allow the patient to see these two colors prior to seeing a white light, which decreases testing errors.

The Farnsworth D-15 Color Vision Test is useful for detecting dichromacys, in particular, tritan defects. A disadvantage is, that minor color vision defects can not be detected.
