Applicants in the selection process must successfully pass the PFT to proceed in the hiring process. Applicants will be provided three (3) separate opportunities to pass the PFT. The initial testing will be administered at the Assessment Center.
A Physical Capability Assessment is an assessment of your bodys working ability to perform specific functional tasks, such as, for example, lifting, carrying, walking up and downs stairs, bending, reaching or even sitting or lying down, depending on the nature of your job role requirements.
In order to pass the PT test, Airmen have to score 75 total points while hitting the minimum requirements in all three categories. The cardio phase is worth a maximum of 60 points, and the strength and endurance phases are worth a maximum of 20 each.
These tasks measure physical abilities such as strength, muscular flexibility, and stamina. Examples of physical ability tests include: Muscular Tension Tests - Tasks requiring pushing, pulling, lifting.
The APAT is scored on a point-based system. Each test component is scored on a scale from 0 to 8 points. An applicant must achieve a minimum cumulative score of 20 points with no zeros to pass the APAT.
