The IRS recognizes the Boy Scouts of America National Council as tax exempt under IRC Section 501 (c)(3). This tax exempt status extends only to BSA local councils and their trust funds. It does not extend to or include Scout packs, troops or other units.
Youth can join Scouts BSA if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st; OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.
A boy who is a citizen of India and who has completed 10 years but not completed 17 years of age is eligible to become a Scout Aspirant. A Scout Aspirant shall complete Pravesh requirement and will work for three months to the satisfaction of the Scout Master before being invested as a Scout.
Ages: Youth 11-17 Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience where boys and girls can have their share of adventure in the great outdoors.
Cub Scouting is available to children from kindergarten through fifth grade. Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts) is the flagship program of Scouting America for youth ages 11 to 18; 10-year-olds can join after March 1 of their fifth grade year or if they have earned the Arrow of Light award.
