SANTA FE This week 24,750 extremely low-income New Mexico households will receive a one-time payment of $400 in economic relief assistance under an initiative administered by the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) in partnership with the Taxation and Revenue Department (Tax Rev).
Since 1985, the Lifeline program has provided a discount on phone service for qualifying low-income consumers to ensure that all Americans have the opportunities and security that phone service brings, including being able to connect to jobs, family and emergency services.
If you qualify, your household can receive a monthly Lifeline benefit of up to $9.25 to lower the costs of phone or internet service and up to $34.25 for qualifying households on Tribal lands. If you get Lifeline for phone service, you can get the benefit for one mobile phone or one home phone, but not both.
