Flybe has ceased trading after going into administration on 27th January 2023, affecting the travel plans of thousands of Brits and leaving some stranded overseas. The regional carrier previously went into administration in March 2020.
On 16 March 2022, Flybe announced that Belfast City Airport in Belfast, Northern Ireland would be the airlines second operating base. The company slogan was Smile and go the extra mile. The first flight took place between Birmingham and Belfast on 13 April 2022.
In 2020 Flybe will become Connect, your new go-to name in regional flying.
The airline is taking over 16 routes formerly flown by Flybe. Loganair will be adding nearly 400 new flights each week and has opened a special recruitment line for former Flybe employees seeking to continuing their aviation careers.
The embattled airline collapses with all flights grounded and administrators brought in. The coronavirus pandemic is seen as the final straw as passenger numbers plummet. April 2021: Flybe is bought by Thyme Opco, a company linked to its former shareholder Cyrus Capital.
