If you have been granted a residence permit in Norway, you will receive your D number in a letter from the Norwegian Tax Administration about two weeks after you attended the appointment with the police to order your residence card.
D-number is a number assigned to foreign nationals without a Norwegian national identity number, in need of some kind of identification to Norwegian authorities.
You'll receive your D number by post. If the Tax Administration orders the D number for you, for example, if you're applying for a tax deduction card, you'll also receive the D number in person when you arrive at the counter for your ID check.
In general, the UDI final rule requires device labelers (typically, the manufacturer) to: Include a unique device identifier (UDI), issued under an FDA-accredited issuing agency's UDI system, on device labels, device packages, and in some instances, directly on the device.
Valid ID document: Passport or national ID card containing a photograph of you and stating your citizenship and gender. If the ID card does not state your gender, you must also have a birth certificate or other documentation which states your gender. Employment contract or written offer of employment.

Tax deduction cards and d-numbers Workers intending to work and stay in Norway for less than 6 months must have a d-number in order to be registered with the National Registry. A d-number is also necessary in order to obtain a tax deduction card.
After you get your residence card, they will decide if you get a national identity number or a D number. You will receive information about this in a letter from the Tax Administration about two to six weeks after you have met with the police to order your residence card.
You must meet in person at your local tax office where they will register you as a resident in Norway, and award you with your personal number (arrives to your registered residential address within 10 days to 4 weeks). The personal number is the pre-requisite to: opening a bank account.
If you are to live in Norway for more than six months, you must register in the National Registry. You will then be assigned a Norwegian national identity number. To register, you must visit one of 42 selected tax offices in person, and present proof of identity and documentation.
The Norwegian national identity number is a unique identifying number that you are assigned for life. It consists of 11 digits, of which the first six digits indicate the person's date of birth. National identity numbers are assigned to: Everyone who was born in Norway.
