First, open the PDF. If Preview isnt your default app, right-click the PDF, then select Open With, followed by Preview. From the menu bar at the top, click File, and then click Export. In the window that pops up, next to Export As, type in a name for the file. Then click the drop-down menu next to Quartz Filter and click Reduce File Size. Click Save.

Preview Open Preview, click File and Open, then locate your PDF. Click Open. Click File, then Export. Click the location on your hard drive where you want to save the PDF, such as Desktop or Documents. Click the Quartz Filter tab. Click Reduce file size. Click Save.

You can magnify or reduce a PDF by an exact percentage. Choose File Print. From the Page Scaling pop-up menu, select Tile All Pages to expose the Tile Scale % option. For Tile Scale, type the percentage you want to magnify or reduce the PDF. Click OK or Print.
Step 1: Open the PDF document you want to resize in Preview. Step 2: Click on File Export but dont choose Export as PDF. Step 3: Click on the Quartz Filter popup menu and select Reduce File Size. Preview will immediately compress the PDF file.
The Adjust Size / Colour feature in Preview doesnt work for PDF files, only for bitmap image files. Usually you dont want to change the format of a PDF document, anyway.
You can view information about a document or image, such as file size, the author name, and the image resolution, in the Inspector window. In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF or image. Click the Info button in the toolbar. Use the tools in the Inspector window to view more information about the PDF or image.
