How to put words into a shape Open your word document. Click the Insert tab and select Shape, then choose a shape that fits the content. After inserting the shape, you can double-click the shape and enter text or right-click the Shape Add Text.
Add a color or pattern behind a group of objects On the Insert tab, click the Shapes button, click the shape that you want, and then drag the shape so that it surrounds the group of objects. In the Arrange group, point to Send Backward, and then click Send to Back.
Click the Insert tab in the main program menu Ribbon. In the Text tools group, click Text Box, followed by Draw Text Box. Draw the text box to your preferred size by dragging the placeholders at the corners and sides of the box object.
