How long does it take to get approved by SENTRI? The processing time for SENTRI approval can vary by applicant. ing to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the SENTRI application processing time is around 10 to 12 months. Some applications may be processed more quickly, while others take longer.
Please note processing times for vehicle enrollment vary vastly and it can take 12 - 14 months to process. Upon vehicle approval, you will receive a letter stating that you will receive a new SENTRI card, please disregard. You can use the vehicle immediately upon approval with your existing Trusted Traveler card.
Hot Tip: There is no such thing as a whole family application for SENTRI each family member will have to submit separate application forms since CBP needs a separate background and security check on each individual. Depending on the application and interview backlog, the process can take 2 to 6 months.
If you have applied for SENTRI or NEXUS but prefer Global Entry (GE), you may convert your application to a GE once its been conditionally approved. You must pay the difference in the application fee, if applicable. This option is not available if you have already scheduled a SENTRI or NEXUS interview.
