The marriage license is issued the same day of the application. However, due to the waiting period the marriage license is not effective until 6:00 a.m. on the second calendar day after the license is issued. The license will expire 6 months after the waiting period. Age restrictions apply.
Fees - When applying In Person We do not accept bills larger than $50.00. The marriage license fee is $35.00. There is an additional fee of $25.00 for civil ceremonies performed by a judge, the clerk of court, or a designated deputy clerk of the circuit court. Photo identification is required for applicants.

While only one party is required to apply for a marriage license, each party must provide a copy of an official government-issued birth certificate or other official government-issued document or record demonstrating their age.
Both parties must be over 18 years of age. Forms of identification for each person: drivers license, birth certificate or a passport (Applicants 17 and younger are required to call the License Department prior to applying.) The fee is $25.00 - CASH only. Neither a blood test nor witnesses are required in Maryland.
