If you need to change your court date, you usually need to file paperwork to ask for that, or get the other side to agree to change the date before the day of the hearing. If you have a court date for a criminal case or a contempt matter and miss your hearing, a warrant may be issued for your arrest.
The request for a continuance must be made in writing at least five business days prior to the hearing date. You may be ordered by the court to pay additional costs. Court administrators can only give one continuance to you.
(a)Moving Documents-Service; Notice. Contempt proceedings shall be initiated by notice of motion and motion or by an order to show cause served upon the person of the alleged contemnor together with motions accompanied by appropriate supporting affidavits.
