Use Schedule H (Form 1040) to report household employment taxes if you paid cash wages to a household employee and the wages were subject to social security, Medicare, or FUTA taxes, or if you withheld federal income tax.
Your tax return needs to include Schedule H only if you pay any single employee at least $2,700 for the 2024 tax year ($2,800 for 2025), or cash wages to all household employees totaling $1,000 or more during any three-month calendar quarter during either the current or previous tax year.
You must have a qualifying child or relative dependent. Your qualifying person lived with you for more than 183 days in the year. If the dependent has income in excess of $4,300, you cannot claim them for Head of Household purposes.
