NCIC is a computerized index of criminal justice information (i.e.- criminal record history information, fugitives, stolen properties, missing persons). It is available to Federal, state, and local law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies and is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) was created by Act 286 of 1971 with the name of Criminal Justice and Highway Safety Information Center. It was originally placed in the Department of Finance and Administration. Act 742 of 1975 transferred the agency to the Department of Public Safety.
