Expired red cards. The CPCS Red Trained Operator Card has a two year validity. The card can only be renewed if you are within the grace period and you register for the relevant NVQ to move on to the Blue Competent Operator Card.
Red cards are only valid for 2 years. This is why most workers will look to upgrade their red card to a CPCS blue card as soon as they can. To do this, learners need to have completed their NVQ, CITB HS&E course (within the past 2 years), and hold a red card which is within 12 months of its expiry.
To renew you need to: Hold an indate CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card category or categories renewing. Pass the relevant CITB health, safety and environment test within the last two years (must be valid on receipt of the application)
