A Special Flight Permit (SFP), commonly referred to as a Ferry Permit, may be issued to any U.S. registered aircraft that may not currently meet applicable Airworthiness Requirements but is capable of safe flight.
The annual inspection is not much different than a 100-hour inspection. The only differences between them are when the inspection is accomplished (every 100 hours versus once a year) and who can perform the inspection.
You must now complete a 100-hour inspection under 14 CFR 91.409. You can overfly this 100-hour limit by up to 10 hours, but only to reposition the aircraft for its required 100-hour inspection. An annual inspection can be completed instead of a 100-hour inspection.
A Primary Category, special airworthiness certificate is issued to operate aircraft that have been type certificated in the primary category. Aircraft in this category are of a simple design and intended exclusively for pleasure and personal use.
