How much DLA you receive depends on your pay grade and whether you are allowed to move with dependents. You can get the latest DLA rates from the Defense Travel Management Office, which lists rates based on pay grade and dependent status.
Dislocation Allowance (DLA) This is a flat sum thats meant to cover any incidental or extra expenses that may occur during a military move and is separate from the standard per diem.
A dislocation allowance (DLA) partially reimburses a service member for expenses incurred when moving a household. The DLA is a flat amount and may be paid as a primary DLA, a secondary DLA, or a partial DLA, depending upon the circumstances of the household move.
Military members required to vacate government quarters or housing may receive a partial DLA of $966.00 in 2025. Those who move out of government quarters for their own convenience or misconduct, or who move into different government quarters are not eligible.
DLA is paid in one lump sum rather than installments or over time and is generally issued around 30 days after paperwork is filed and processed with the installation.
