Individual events are scored by a panel of seven judges who recommend a score between 0 (completely failed) to 10 (excellent). The top two scores and the bottom two scores are discarded; the remaining three scores are added together and multiplied by the dives difficulty rating, known as the degree of difficulty.
When calculating the overall score for a dive, the highest and lowest diving scores from the judges are ignored. If there are five judges, the remaining three scores are multiplied by the tariff to give the dive score. If there are seven judges, the five remaining scores are added together.
The highest two scores and the lowest two scores for each dive are then removed to ensure only the most even judgments are considered and eradicate the possibility of the judges influencing the points one way or the other.
Once all seven judges submit their scores for a dive, the highest two scores and lowest two scores are eliminated. The remaining three scores are added together to achieve the execution score, which is multiplied by the dives degree of difficulty to determine the total score of the dive.
Deficient: 2.5 to 4.5 points. Satisfactory: 5 to 6 points. Good: 6.5 to 8 points. Very good: 8.5 to 10 point.
