In an 8 team double elimination bracket, each team plays at least two games, with the winners advancing and the losers dropping to a losers bracket. In the first round, the eight teams are randomly paired and play a single game. The winners advance to the next round and the losers drop to the losers bracket.
Single-elimination bracket These brackets work well when there are a lot of participants. For example, an eight-team tournament would include a total of three rounds. Four teams are eliminated in the first round, two teams are eliminated in the second round. This leaves two participants in the third round.
The number of games in a double-elimination tournament is one or two less than twice the number of teams participating (e.g. 8 teams would see 14 or 15 games).
3) Double Elimination Here, players must lose twice to be eliminated. Its fairer because one bad match doesnt send a strong player home. However, this format does take longer to run, so make sure your schedule and space are up for it. The final is usually a rematch between the winners and losers bracket champions.
In the first round, the eight teams are randomly paired and play a single game. The winners advance to the next round and the losers drop to the losers bracket. In the second round, the winners of the first round play each other, while the losers play in the losers bracket.
