A child born outside the United States or its outlying possessions to two U.S. citizen parents, in wedlock, is entitled to citizenship, provided one parent has, prior to the birth of the child, been resident in the United States or one of its outlying possessions. If you obtained the DS-2029 with the 1st option, bring a money order for $100 when only applying for CRBA. ABOUT THIS APPLICATION The purpose of this Form DS-2029 is to collect the information necessary to determine whether a child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents acquired U.S. citizenship at birth and therefore is eligible for a CRBA.
You can obtain the CRBA from a U.S. embassy or consulate in your child's birth country. To do so, you should contact your closest U.S. consular office. After you complete the application, you must sign it in front of a consular officer or notary. You should note that a CRBA is not proof of identity.
