How do I get my EMT-B license in Illinois? You must have a High School Diploma or GED. You must be 18 or older when scheduling the NREMT Exam after successful completion of your EMT course. You must be able to PASS a background check with no felony convictions. Vaccine Records are required and must be current.
The typical duration of an EMT-B training program in Illinois is 120 hours. It can take approximately six months to get licensed as an EMT-B in Chicago. The EMT-B license represents entry-level training within the EMS field. The EMT-B course is usually a single-semester course.
This process can generally take a few weeks to a month. But when everything is said and done, you are looking at 2-6 months long to get EMT certification.
We currently have an EMT Boot Camp course which is completed within a 2-3 week period, a Fast Track EMT class which takes about a month to finish, an EMT Accelerated (Weekend or Evening) course, and finally a Traditional EMT class which takes 3-4 months to complete.
