Deferred assessment allows a student to postpone an exam or extend the submission date of coursework if a student believes that his/her performance in an assessment has been affected by personal circumstances (e.g. medical condition, family crisis, bereavement).
In general, the University does not defer an exam that has already been deferred. In this situation, your option would be to apply for withdrawal from the unit through special consideration. Can I submit an incomplete application? No; the system will not allow you to submit an application that is incomplete.
Deferred exams are granted on medical or compassionate grounds, or for religious or political reasons, and applications for deferral are considered by a committee established by Senate for this purpose in terms of the general university rules. (see Handbook 3 General Rules and Policies).
Exam Deferrals Stay home and get well - you cannot be required to get a sick note/doctors note from a physician. Contact your faculty by phone or email as soon as possible to let them know of your absence. Once you are well enough, visit your faculty office and request a deferred examination.
A deferred exam is available to students who cannot attend their scheduled formal exam due to special circumstances, such as illness or circumstances beyond your control. Students wishing to sit a deferred exam must apply.
