EPA regulates household, industrial, and manufacturing solid and hazardous wastes under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
A generator is considered EPA-compliant if it meets the national standards and regulations2 set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency for nonroad compression-ignition (NRCI) engines. These standards are confirmed by certain test procedures, proper labeling and warranty obligations.
King countys waste acceptance rule restricts or prohibits disposal of some types of waste at our facilities. This can be for operational, environmental, or safety and health reasons. Through Waste Clearance, we evaluate restricted waste and determine if and how it can be safely accepted for disposal.

The regulation of appropriate hazardous waste management is the responsibility of the provincial and territorial governments. In instances where provincial regulations do not exist for adequate management of hazardous wastes (i.e., storage, disposal, treatment or transportation), federal regulations are used.
