The child protection register (CPR) is a confidential list of all children in the local area who have been identified as being at risk of docHub harm.
Access to the Register. HSC Trust Childrens Services Social Workers including Hospital Social Workers and the Regional Emergency Social Work Service (RESWS) can be contacted to ascertain if a child/young persons name is on the Child Protection Register.
The register allows authorised individuals in social work, education, health, police and the voluntary sector to check if a child they are working with is known to be at risk. If a child is added to the CPR they must also have a child protection plan.
Usually a child will require a child protection plan for no longer than two years. By that stage the work undertaken with the family usually means that the child is no longer at risk. In a small number of cases where there is no improvement, it may be necessary for the court to become involved.
The Central Registry cannot be publicly searched. It can be viewed only by certain employers, agencies, state officials, and individuals to whom MDHHS has given permission.
