A Letter of Testamentarysometimes called a Letter of Administration or Letter of Representationis a document granted by a local court. The document simply states that you are the legal executor for a particular estate and that you have the ability to act as such.
To get the actual letter, youll need to provide most, if not all, of the following: A copy of the Will (if available) The Death Certificate. Any required forms the court requests. Information about yourself (to properly identify youre the appropriate Executor)
The Court, giving him or her the legal authority to take actions on behalf of the estate, will issue a Letters Testamentary to the Executor.
