Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE) Tenants must receive eligible state or federal disability-related financial assistance to be eligible for the program. The DRIE benefit is administered as a real estate tax credit to landlords who would otherwise receive the increased rent.
Eligible Senior Citizens with a fixed income may qualify to have their rent frozen under the SCRIE program. Disabled persons may also apply to have their rent frozen under the DRIE program. In NYC, tenants may contact the NYC Department of Finance at 311.
