PSA has looser grading and generally adds more value because they were first to market and have mainstream recognition. Beckett has much more stringent grading and an absolutely perfect BGS 10 black label is the most respected grade in the industry.
Is BGS 9.5 a PSA 10?
In theory, yes! Less and less likely to cross to a PSA 10. A 9.5 has a negative connotation in collectors eyes and thats why BGS nearly introduced a 10 Gem scale instead.
Is a Beckett 9.5 better than a PSA 9?
The newer PSA 9s are definitively better than the older BGS 9.5 slabs!! When it comes to value any PSA 90s and early 2000s cards graded since August/September should be considered as good or better than older BGS 9.5 slabs!
Which is more valuable, PSA or BGS?
Resale Value: PSA-graded cards typically command the highest resale prices, especially for sports cards and vintage collectibles. PSAs market dominance gives its slabs a premium value, particularly for cards graded 9 or 10.
Why does PSA sell higher than BGS?
the lack of scan data from BGS (which is outrageous in todays standard) makes it really difficult for buyers to pick the right card. PSA does pop control. A lot of the PSA 9 vintage cards with new certs would have been a 10 if graded 7-10 years ago.
Ultimately, it depends on your reason for grading your cards. If youre seeking accurate grades, BGS is the way to go. However, if youre looking to maximize your return, PSA is the better choice.
