The scoring scale ranges from 200-800. The minimum score required to pass the exam is 405. Approximately 62% of applicants pass per testing session. The exam assesses your skills in three areas, including medical ethics, clinical skills, and administrative skills.

How do I renew my AAMA certification?

There are two ways to recertify: by continuing education or by exam. You will need to have 60 continuing education units (CEUs) to recertify by continuing education. If you do not have 60 CEUs, you will need to pass the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam.

What happens if my Medical Assistant license expires?

You may reactivate your expired credential (not recertified on or before the expiration date) by passing the exam or submitting an application to recertify by continuing education. If your credential has been expired for more than three months you must take the exam to restore your credential.
