Historically, exam invigilation referred to the physical presence of an exam invigilator during the exam period whose responsibility was to oversee the exam and ensure that all test-takers adhere to all rules of the exam. Today, the exam invigilation can be automated for online exams, tests, and quizzes.

What is virtual invigilator?

Invigilation or proctoring refers to monitoring students during an exam to ensure they adhere to the rules. In an online invigilated exam, an invigilator (proctor) will monitor you via a live feed of your study environment and screen.

What is remote invigilation exam?

Remote invigilation means that instead of travelling to a physical examination centre, you sit the examination (structure, format and length) online, in a quiet, secure place of your choosing. You do the exam on your own computer, either at home or at work.

Can a robot invigilator prevent cheating?

Invigilators are meant to monitor students during an exam and prevent any dishonest behaviour. From their experiments, they concluded that the Nao robot could prevent cheating but not indiscipline, where there was much talking amongst the students but no cheating.

Does the invigilator app record you?

Is my personal data collected, stored and safe? Once you finish your assessment and upload your required data at the end of that assessment, the app will no longer be able to record any audio or take any photos or use your webcam. The Invigilator app does not have access to any other data on your PC.

How to invigilate online?

To participate in an online invigilated exam, the students require the following: Hardware with the minimum system requirements to run the exam and/or invigilation software, e.g. a computer or tablet. A working webcam. A working microphone and speaker or headphones. Internet connection.
