Former students whose records are inactive, and not at the former school site, can request transcripts and school records by calling the Education Centre at 807-274-9855. Proof of identification and a nominal fee will be required to process requests.
About the Apology On June 11, 2008, the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada issued an apology to former students of the residential school system. Prime Minister Stephen Harper also delivered the apology in the House of Commons, where Indigenous leaders and Survivors stood as witnesses to the speech.
The Fort Frances School (also known as St. Margarets), on the southwest shore of Rainy Lake in northwestern Ontario, opened in 1906.
