The 700-plus animals, many in \u201cnatural\u201d environments, include wolves, lions, leopards, red pandas, elephants, hippos, monkeys, snakes, mountain lions, grizzly bears, and moose. The zoo's giraffe herd is the largest and most prolific captive herd in the world; there have been more than 200 live births since the 1950s.
The rates and hours of operation are as follows: Monday - Saturday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, $1.00/hour in the downtown core. Monday - Saturday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, $0.75/hour in other areas.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's 146 picturesque acres are home to animals of every variety. Mirroring their natural habitats in the wild, the animals' Zoo homes will transport you to wild places around the globe.
If you were to see everything at a fast pace, it would take about 1-1/2 hours. To stop and enjoy your favorite animals and have lunch or a snack, it takes an average of 3-1/2 hours. The Zoo is a wonderful relaxing place to wander through, so we suggest allowing ample time to take advantage!
