You can continue to protect people at high risk for severe COVID-19 by limiting your in-person contact or wearing a mask around them for 10 days. If you develop symptoms or test positive, isolate (stay away from others) for 5 days and call your doctor or clinic right away.
Self-isolate for 7 days from the date you had your first symptom or, if you have no symptoms, 7 days from the date your test was completed. You do not need another test in order to leave isolation. You may still be infectious for up to 10 days after your symptoms started or your positive test date.
A close contact is anyone you were less than two metres away from for at least 15 minutes, or multiple shorter lengths of time, without personal protective equipment in the 48 hours before your symptoms began or your positive test result, whichever came first.
What is close contact? Close contact means being within 6 feet, for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period, of someone with COVID-19 during their infectious period. You can be contagious two days before symptoms began and until you are recovered.
