Mission and primary objective of Fort Bragg is to provide consistent combat and support forces in accordance with Americas Contingency Corps. Major units of Fort Bragg include the 82nd Airborne, XVIII Airborne Corps, FORSCOM, USARC, 18th Aviation Brigade, 4th Medical Command and the US Army Special Operations Command.
Fort Bragg officially became Fort Liberty during a ceremony in June 2023. The Naming Commission estimated that changing the name of Fort Bragg to Fort Liberty would initially cost over $6 million, according to the commissions report.
